Another new painting - St Mary's Lighthouse
In an unlikely setting just north of Whitley Bay on the north east coast of England, St Mary's Island and its crowning lighthouse can be an enchanting spot and all the better for being so unexpected. I've painted it three times now and I'm sure I'll paint it many more; I love the clarity of light here and the scale of the landscape.

just took a quick look at the blog. c/o YORKSHIRE PUD... absolutely love the pig picture ( i keep pigs)
ReplyDeleteIt was rather nice.... mind you the mackerel picture is cracking too!!!
best wishes
Glad you like John and thanks for the kind words.
ReplyDeleteI love paintings that make me want to touch them! But I have no idea how you create this effect - is it painted using a brush?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I hope you stumble upon a fishwife who shares your passion for this rather lovely spot...
I mostly just chuck paint around and hope some of it sticks in the right places Susan!
ReplyDeleteHa ha - I'm not sure I could cope with the fishwife mitherin' on in such a peaceful spot.
